316 stainless. M10 thread. No rust, no bend, no excuses.

A float valve does one job: shut the water off at the right level. Every part of that job runs through the arm.

A rusted-through arm drops the float and the trough runs all night. A bent arm holds the valve half-open and you find out when the paddock’s boggy and the tank’s empty. Either way, you’re driving out to fix a two-dollar part that just cost you a day.

This one is 316 stainless steel, the same grade used on boat fittings and in food processing plants, and the reason is corrosion. Bore water, salty and brackish supply, fertiliser residue, coastal air, and years spent sitting half-submerged will chew through galvanised and plated mild steel from the inside out. 316 stainless shrugs it off. It also holds its shape under the weight of a full float and the everyday attention of stock leaning on it.

The M10 thread mates straight to a Cocky Valve float valve and standard ball floats, so it’s a five-minute swap with a shifter, no adapters, no drilling, no mucking about.

Four lengths cover the lot: tight tank inlets and small troughs through to big stock troughs and storage tanks where you want the extra leverage. Pick your length, thread it on, and forget about it.

Key features

  • 316 marine-grade stainless steel, the highest practical corrosion resistance for bore, brackish, treated and coastal water.
  • Won’t rust, pit or corrode through where galvanised and plated arms give up.
  • Holds its shape under a loaded float and rough treatment from stock.
  • M10 thread direct fit to Cocky Valve float valves and standard ball floats.
  • Four lengths to suit troughs, tanks and tight inlets.
  • Tool-free planning, five-minute fit: Thread it on, set your level, done.
  • Cocky Valve lifetime guarantee.

Choosing your length

Length Best suited to
150mm Small troughs, tight tank inlets and confined valve boxes where the float has to sit close to the valve
300mm Small troughs, tight tank inlets and confined valve boxes where the float has to sit close to the valve
400mm Larger troughs and tanks where extra leverage helps the valve seat firmly and hold shut
600mm Big tanks and large troughs. Maximum leverage, plus a wider gap between cut-in and cut-out so the valve isn’t cycling constantly

Rule of thumb: a longer arm gives the float more leverage on the valve and a bigger fill range between refills. A shorter arm keeps everything compact and holds a tighter water level. If you’re unsure, 300mm suits most installs.
