The Philmac PUSH Metric Tee creates a branch line or an extra connection point in a metric PE pipeline with three push-fit connections and no tools. All three outlets are the same size – 20, 25, 32, 40, 50 or 63mm – so the tee drops straight into an equal-size run for irrigation, water distribution and reticulation.

Every outlet works the same way: cut the pipe square, push to the internal end stop, feel it seat. No chamfering, no lubricant, no tightening on any of the three joints. That saves the most time exactly where tees are used most – repetitive branch connections across a reticulation grid or a multi-zone irrigation system.

Tees are usually bought alongside joiners, and the two share the same materials, certification and installation method: UV-stabilised black polypropylene body, acetal collet and grip ring, EPDM seal, WaterMark certification, up to PN16 and Australian Made. If a branch needs to move, loosen the nut, disassemble and reuse.

For hydraulic design, Philmac publishes fitting constants for the PUSH tee: F = 12 for straight-through flow and F = 60 for the side branch, used in the head-loss formula L = F × D.

Application notice

Philmac PUSH fittings are designed for connecting metric pressure polyethylene pipe. They are not suitable for compressed air applications, or for positive displacement pumps where the line pressure drops to zero between cycles. For those applications Philmac recommends Philmac EasyLOK fittings.

FAQs

Can the branch be a different size or a threaded outlet? This tee is equal on all three outlets. For a smaller PE branch use the Philmac PUSH Metric Reducing Tee; for a female BSP threaded branch use the Philmac PUSH Metric Female Tee.

How do I estimate head loss through the tee? Use L = F × D, where D is the pipe inner diameter in metres. Philmac publishes F = 12 for flow straight through the tee and F = 60 for flow through the side branch. L is the equivalent length of pipe in metres.

Do I need tools for any of the three connections? No. Every outlet is a tool-free push-fit connection. A standard wrench is only needed if you choose to loosen the nut for disassembly.

Can I disassemble one outlet without disturbing the others? Yes. Each outlet has its own nut and internal components, so a single joint can be released and reassembled.

Is Philmac PUSH suitable for potable water? Yes. The range is WaterMark certified, conforms to AS/NZS 4020 and meets the lead-free requirements of NCC Volume 3. The all-black body also blocks light transmission, helping protect water quality in potable pipelines.
