PHILMAC PUSH METRIC 90 ELBOW PE x PE

Turn metric PE pipe 90° tool-free – cut square, push, done.

The Philmac PUSH Metric 90° Elbow changes the direction of a metric PE pipeline with two tool-free push-fit connections. Where a run turns a corner – around a building, into a meter box or pit, or up to a tap stand – the elbow makes both joints by pushing pipe to the stop. No tightening, no chamfering, no lubricant.

Elbows are essential for completing PE installations, and the PUSH version removes the awkward part: working a wrench in a tight corner. Cut each pipe square, push it home until it hits the internal end stop, and the acetal grip ring and EPDM seal are engaged. Push. Done.

Available in 20, 25, 32, 40, 50 and 63mm for plumbing, irrigation and water-transfer systems, the elbow is WaterMark certified, pressure rated up to PN16, approved for drinking water to AS/NZS 4020 and Australian Made. Both ends can be disassembled and reassembled – handy when the final alignment of a corner needs adjusting.

For design, Philmac publishes a fitting constant of F = 30 for the 90° elbow, used in the head-loss formula L = F × D.

Key features & benefits

  • 90° direction change with two tool-free joints – no wrenches, no tightening.
  • No pipe preparation – clean, square-cut ends only; no chamfer or lube.
  • Positive stop feedback on both outlets.
  • Reverse-taper grip and EPDM seal for a secure, watertight corner.
  • Disassemble and reassemble to fine-tune alignment or reuse.
  • Head-loss constant published – F = 30 (L = F × D).
  • UV-stabilised black polypropylene for exposed or buried corners.
  • Certified – WaterMark, AS/NZS 4129, AS/NZS 4020, lead-free to NCC Volume 3, Australian Made.

Applications

  • Direction changes in plumbing water services, residential and commercial

Application notice

Philmac PUSH fittings are designed for connecting metric pressure polyethylene pipe. They are not suitable for compressed air applications, or for positive displacement pumps where the line pressure drops to zero between cycles. For those applications Philmac recommends Philmac EasyLOK fittings.

FAQs

Do I need tools to install a Philmac PUSH elbow? No. Both ends are tool-free push-fit connections. A standard wrench is only needed if you choose to loosen the nut for disassembly.

Can I adjust the corner after the pipe is in? Yes. Loosen the nut, withdraw the pipe, realign and reinstall. Components are not damaged by disassembly.

How much head loss does the elbow add? Use L = F × D with F = 30, where D is the pipe inner diameter in metres and L is the equivalent length of straight pipe.

Is there a threaded version? Yes – the Philmac PUSH Metric Male Elbow (PE x MI BSP) and Metric Female Elbow (PE x FI BSP).

Can the elbow be installed above ground? Yes. The UV-stabilised black polypropylene body is suitable for continuous above-ground use without additional protection, and the range is also validated for long-term underground service.

Installation – Push. Done.

  1. Cut each pipe square to length, using the flange on the central body as a guide. Ensure pipe ends are clean and undamaged.
  2. The fitting is pre-assembled and ready to use.
  3. Push each pipe in until you feel it hit the internal stop after passing the O-ring. Both ends are now fully installed.

Pressure-test to site requirements. Disassemble and reinstall if the corner alignment needs adjusting.

Disassembly & reassembly

Loosen the nut – a standard wrench is the only tool you might need – and the components release so the pipe can be removed. Reassemble: O-ring into the body, then spacer, then grip ring with gripper teeth pointing down, then split ring on top with the taper facing up. Refit the nut and hand-tighten until it meets the flange. Ready for reuse.
