PHILMAC PUSH METRIC MALE ELBOW PE x MI BSP
A 90° turn from PE pipe to male BSP thread – tool-free. Push. Done.
The Philmac PUSH Metric Male Elbow turns a metric PE line through 90° and finishes in a tapered male BSP thread, so PE pipe can connect to a female-threaded valve, pump port or fitting right at a change of direction. It replaces an elbow-plus-adaptor combination with one fitting and one tool-free push-fit joint.
The PE end installs the Philmac PUSH way – cut square, push to the internal stop, feel the pipe seat – with no chamfering, lubricant or tightening. The male thread conforms to ISO 7.1 for pressure-tight threaded joints. Seven sizes cover 20mm x ½” through 40mm x 1½”.
Male threaded elbows form part of Philmac’s recommended elbow range for plumbing, irrigation and water-transfer systems. The fitting is WaterMark certified, pressure rated up to PN16, drinking-water approved to AS/NZS 4020 and Australian Made. The PE end can be disassembled and reassembled for alignment or reuse – especially useful where the threaded end must be oriented first and the PE run aligned second.
Key features & benefits
- Elbow and male adaptor in one – PE pipe to male BSP thread at 90°.
- Tool-free PE connection – cut square, push to the stop. Done.
- No pipe preparation – no chamfer, no lubricant.
- Tapered male thread to ISO 7.1.
- Positive stop feedback confirms the pipe is home.
- Secure grip and watertight seal – reverse-taper collet and grip ring, EPDM O-ring.
- Disassemble and reassemble the PE end after orienting the thread.
- Certified – WaterMark, AS/NZS 4129, AS/NZS 4020, lead-free to NCC Volume 3, Australian Made.
Applications
- Connecting PE pipe to female-threaded valves and fittings at a corner
- Pump and equipment connections where the line turns 90°
- Plumbing water services in meter boxes and confined spaces
- Irrigation manifolds, filters and valve connections
- Rural water and water-transfer systems
Application notice
Philmac PUSH fittings are designed for connecting metric pressure polyethylene pipe. They are not suitable for compressed air applications, or for positive displacement pumps where the line pressure drops to zero between cycles. For those applications Philmac recommends Philmac EasyLOK fittings.
FAQs
When would I use a male elbow instead of an elbow and a male adaptor? Whenever a PE line turns 90° and connects straight into a female-threaded valve, pump port or fitting – one fitting, one push-fit joint, fewer potential leak paths.
Is the PE end tool-free? Yes. Push the square-cut pipe to the internal stop. A wrench is only needed if you loosen the nut to disassemble.
Can I orient the threaded end first and connect the pipe afterwards? Yes. Make and orient the threaded connection, then push the PE pipe home. If the alignment needs changing later, disassemble and reinstall the PE end.
What thread standard is used? The male thread is tapered and conforms to ISO 7.1.
Is there a female threaded version? Yes – the Philmac PUSH Metric Female Elbow PE x FI BSP, available from 20mm x ½” to 50mm x 2″.
