AVG Pressure and Temperature Relief Valve Lead Free (Red)

The AVG 15mm Pressure and Temperature Relief Valve Lead Free is a safety valve designed to protect storage hot water systems from dangerous pressure and temperature build-up during the heating cycle. Installed directly into the water heater PTR socket, the valve automatically releases hot water to the drain line when pressure or temperature exceeds the rated setting. As water heats during normal operation, it expands, which increases pressure inside the storage tank.

The PTR valve relieves this pressure by releasing controlled drips of hot water. If the heater’s thermostat or temperature cut-out fails, the integrated temperature probe will activate the valve to discharge water and prevent overheating. Each valve is individually tested and calibrated to ensure the correct pressure operation and automatic reseating after activation.

The valve features a forged DR brass body, stainless steel lever for manual testing, and a high-temperature seal designed to remain flexible under operating conditions. The rating plate is colour-coded to help installers quickly identify the correct pressure rating when matching PTR valves to expansion control valves or water heater requirements. For improved system efficiency and reduced hot water discharge, an expansion control valve is commonly installed on the cold water supply line so expansion is relieved before the PTR operates.
