The AVG Expansion Control Valve Lead Free Hot Water Expansion Relief Valve is designed to relieve pressure created when water expands during the heating cycle in storage hot water systems. As water heats inside the tank, it expands, increasing system pressure. The expansion control valve automatically releases a small amount of cold water to manage this pressure and protect the system. The valve is installed on the cold-water supply line feeding the hot water service. By relieving expansion pressure before it reaches the hot water tank, the ECV helps reduce discharge from the pressure temperature relief valve and improves overall system efficiency.
Expansion control valves are commonly required on controlled-pressure hot water installations and may be mandated by local plumbing regulations. By controlling expansion pressure on the cold inlet side, the valve reduces unnecessary hot water discharge and helps extend the service life of the PTR valve. Each valve is individually tested and calibrated to ensure correct pressure performance and reliable reseating after activation.
The forged DR brass body provides durability in domestic plumbing systems, and the design allows installation in either horizontal or vertical pipe runs. Two pressure ratings are available for 15mm systems to suit different water heater configurations and pressure requirements. Suitable for: storage hot water systems and controlled pressure water heater installations.
